Hvad er inkluderet?
Once on base, participants first few days with GVI will be spent training. This includes a breakdown of GVI’s rules and regulations, an introduction to GVI and Fijian culture and a tour of the village they will be calling ‘home’ for your stay, Silana. Here the participants will receive intensive tailored training in topics such as TELF techniques, in order to ready them to develop and deliver structured learning through play sessions and early childhood development courses with caregivers.
Participants will be working towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education, by developing and delivering sessions for children under five years of age that support their development in key areas such as cognitive, emotional, social and physical skills. To ensure a holistic approach, participants also deliver short courses to caregivers communicating the importance of early childhood development and how children can be supported in their development at home.
The Monday of each week is dedicated to planning, including selecting an appropriate theme for learners to engage with activities through. For example, choosing the theme of colours offers the opportunity to use their fine motor skills, categorise and work in groups. Participants will also learn about the science behind early childhood development and be trained to deliver modules to caregivers. Tuesday through Thursday participants will visit nearby communities to deliver these sessions. Friday is set aside for reflection and adaptation. Constant support is provided by trained field staff and participants will be accompanied by a local member of staff to facilitate these sessions.
